What I Enjoy Doing
I enjoy
science fiction, because that becomes our science facts with time
and technology. I use to attend various science fiction
conventions, in costume, and enjoy the dreams of space flight,
robots and androids. Since my world is built upon computers,
science and technology, it is only logical that I am a science
fiction advocate.
At times, I've turned my hobbies into work skills. I started working with leather craft during the 70's and made some money on the side doing odd jobs. I was able to use this hobby as a skilled leather craftsman in San Diego before moving to Kansas City, Missouri. I made all my motorcycle riding gear. I also used my art skills in my advertising. I am still a basic blue jeans and leather person at heart: I still look like a biker, or so I am told.
I also use to swim and power-lift; however, that too has changed due to a variety of influences in my life. I had planned to move from power-lifting to bodybuilding while in the Navy. However, those goals were cut short by my injuries. I tried to maintain a routine while going through surgeries, and I still have the desire to do a low impact sport such as weight training and bicycling. This is one of the aspects that I want to share with someone special, I hope.
I am the person
who likes to be in control. I like relationships of mutual and
equal courtesy, trust, service, and reliability. I am a Cancer/Leo.
If you are into "astrology," my philosophy is based
more on bio-rhythms. This involves chronological age and life
influences. We all go through specific phases of learning and
growing in life. How we adapt those trials and tribulations,
benefits and experiences to each succeeding stage makes or breaks
us. I do not read or follow any of the bull shit horoscopes. Only
you alone can determine where in life you have been, what you
have or should have learned and where you really want to go and
accept for the rest of your life.
Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but yourself can free your mind.
"Prepare for long term success accepting any short term failures."
"Happiness is what gives you pleasure so long as it does not forcibly interfere with the rights of others."
Robert Ringer, Looking Out For #1"Happiness is possible only to a rational man, the man who desires nothing but rational goals, seeks nothing but rational values, and finds his joy in rational actions."
Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
My
general goals in life are pretty well defined, with room for
proper alterations and mergers. I consider myself to be "rationally
selfish." Taken from Robert Ringer's Looking Out For #1: a
self-help book much on the same lines as Ayn Rand's The Virtue of
Selfishness. That is, we all must first take care of ourselves
before we can care for someone else. This also refers to the
logic that we all do something for some reason. Being aware of
why we do what we do, or why we associate with whom we do, is an
important aspect of being self-aware and happy.
I am hardly bored, I'm too busy to be bored; however, I do wish I had someone to share my bed as well as dreams, goals and the pains and joys of getting the house, cars, motorcycles and other shit ready for retirement. Yes, I am a workaholic, and since I know I am, I choose work that makes me happy. That is, I prefer a vocation to an occupation.
A lot of things I enjoy doing, I have fallen away from doing. I have either outgrown them or have had other tasks occupy my time. I did a lot of horse riding in the 70s, but have done none since the early 80s. I have had the notion to take a horse journey across a national park. I am sure I would need to get my calves and glutes in shape.
I have a lot of various projects that I bounce between. Constructing this web site is one of them. I have come to plan my goals in the long-term sence. Being in the field of telecommunication does not allow you to get board - it is "a field and study in a most rapid state of change."
I consider myself to be masculine, sensitive, stubborn,
caring, charitable, passionate, tough, anal retentive, attentive
to detail, sometimes a real asshole, huggable, etc. In all, I do
believe I have a well proportioned degree of feelings and
emotions. I sometimes cry at movies (when proper) and if you
don't like it, I can punch you in the face. (ha! Just kidding, I
hope.) I believe that one of the purposes for our existence, is
to care for one another.
