Introductions for Clients

Thank you for considering a DeVry Senior Project.

This page outlines the expected commitment from the client when working with the Senior Project. It is very important that the client is aware and involved in this educational project and program assessment.

The telecom seniors at DeVry are available to work on a variety of projects. Listed below is a list of acceptable project types. Many projects are actually a combination of project types.

Data network installation and configuration
Business reengineering study
Technology business plan design
Server or Server Farm installation
System troubleshooting and configuration

Requirements

Besides the minimum required information listed on the Client Request outline, the client is expected to work with the senior project in their educational endeavors and participate in student/project evaluations and assessment with the DeVry Senior Project Mentor and Senior Project Coordinator. This participation is done for two reasons.

• The Senior Project is a real-world learning experience for our seniors. Being such, it is important to provide professional guidance. It is not expected that the client should have to teach or instruct the project team; however, by working with the Project Mentor, the project team will receive necessary guidance to overcome stumbling blocks that are common for a "first project" situation.

• The quality of education that DeVry delivers to our students in preparation for Senior Project is constantly under assessment. Internal assessment is only one resource for constantly improving the quality of education DeVry can deliver to our students and the industry. Only through effective communications between senior project clients and industries can we better assess and improve our program. If you wish to participate further in program assessment, please contact our Career Services Department to participate in our Advisory Board Meetings.

The Client will be asked to participate in evaluations one to two times during the project and in a simple program assessment at the end of the project. The Project mentor or Project Coordinator will contact the Client during the first phase of the project to address evaluation and assessment forms and questions.

The Client is also required, when possible, to participate in the project presentations. There are two project presentations that will be conducted during the course: Project Description Presentation and Final Presentation.

• The Team will develop a Project Description that defines the deliverable and present it to the client before beginning the project implementation phase. This presentation is expected to take approximately ten minutes.

• The Team will make a formal presentation at the close of the project. This presentation may vary in length, but generally is approximately one to two hours with time for questions and individual team-member oral exams. This formal presentation provides an opportunity for review of each members learning objectives and contribution in the project. It also provides a forum for program review from the seniors, client, and DeVry faculty.
