TCM490: Telecommunications Management Senior Project
Project Support Documents and Relationships

Introduction

This page outlines the main documents used during the project. Although other supporting documents such as journals and emails are not defined here, they should not be treated as any less important.

The Core Documents & Files for Project Phases 1 & 2

First steps in support documentsThe first support document your team will obtain is the Client Request. The Client request provides your team with the starting point to analyze the problem and begin to design a solution that will be presented in a Project Description Package. These cover two of the project phases and demonstrate TCM Assessment outcomes.

The Client Request and interviews with the Client and company will allow you to analyze the problem, define a solution, refine your Learning contracts, prepare a WBS, and develop a project management file. The first steps from the Client Request to the Project Description and WBS are shown to the right (Figure1: First Steps in Support Documents). Click on the figure to enlarge.

Once you have your Project Description and WBS nailed down to the best of your abilities, you will finish producing your project management file. The relationship between the Project Description, WBS, and Project Management File are shown below (Figure 2: Second Steps in Support Documents). Click on the figure to enlarge.

Status ReportingThe main documents support tracking and management of the Project Implementation Phase. The main documents used for reporting are the Project Status Report and the Project Management File. The Project Status Reports must be concise and well organized. They provide the Project Coordinator with the right information about the project status. The relationship between the Project Status Report and the Project Management File is show to the right (Figure 3: Status Reporting). Click on the figure to enlarge.
